What we did:
I had some noteworthy visitors including Stu Mills and Steven Bishop from CBC! If you're wondering what made me so newsworthy check out this blog post on Mindful Mavens.
It all started with a visit from the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and became a debate on whether or not the use of the word 'cheese' on nut cheese labels is confusing. You can join the conversation on our Facebook page.
If you missed our episode on CBC TV you can see it here.
I also welcomed another fabulous group into the kitchen for our Father's Day Nut Cheese Workshop! And following that workshop I was inspired to start a new Facebook group exclusively for Zengarry Nut Cheese Workshop graduates to share their creations and ask question. I think this on-going support is a great added value to the workshop and people are loving it!
What we ate:
Where we went:
On June 4th I appeared with Pamela Tourigny on Rogers Daytime TV where I dazzled Derrick Fage and Dylan Black with my vegan cheese fondue. You can see the full episode here. For my Vegan Cheese Fondue Recipe click here.
A couple of days later we headed to Ottawa Veg Fest for the weekend. It was a great weekend and one of the highlights for me was to be able to meet Dreena Burton from plantpoweredkitchen.com. She even signed my copy of her latest cookbook; Plant-Powered Families.
I spent a weekend in Almonte and Carlton Place where I was fortunate enough to participate in Dandyfest and the Grand Reopening of The Granary. Beautiful country and lovely people out there. Quite a treat.
At the end of the month we travelled back to Toronto to restock the shelves at Foodland in Mount Albert and Yamchops. As usual this was mostly an excuse to try new restaurants.... and get my fix at Hogtown Vegan. So much food. So little time.
What's coming up in July:
I'm working on some new raw food recipes to share with you this month, so keep your eyes open for that. Raw foods are not only healthy and full of natural digestive enzymes, but they can be fast and easy to prepare when you're organized!
Another project for July is tidying and decluttering. After devouring this book in 2 days I am almost anxious to get home and attack my closets.
Seriously, Marie Kondo makes tidying sound like an adventure.
I started a bit before I left and even though I did a lot of decluttering in January, I've already collected 2 bags of stuff to discard. My closet feels more spacious and I feel lighter just looking at it!
Whether you believe it or not, I always find this process therapeutic and it always results in a shift in energy. My thoughts are less scattered and I am creating space to attract new things into my life.
À la prochaine.
