What a superb time we had this past Saturday at Antidote Superalimentation, Montreal Est newest vegan café and juice bar. I was thrilled to be able to partake in the festivities, representing Zengarry Vegetarian Cuisine, on hand of course to demo their scrumptious vegan nut cheeses. This is Zengarry's 8th store in Quebec , providing Montrealers with a delicious dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian cheese option.
Located at 3459 Ontario St. Est, this exquisite looking store used to sell bargin clothes! You'd never know it by the wooden beams, the recycled wood fixtures and a state of the art sprouting fridge. Not to be outdone was the selection of goodies in the display case, including vegan muffins, sandwiches, brownies, faux cheesecake and more!
Just before 10am with blenders, dehydrators and cash registers all set to 'get busy', the crowd of people kept building outside as the owners Chuck Pepin and Elise Bellerose (below right) and their staff finished off the last touches.
Pleasantly busy were we when the doors finally open, with guests happily munching on four of Zengarry's vegan creations:
Sun-dried Tomato & Basil
Herb and Garlic
Gruyere with Cumin
We were also thrilled to encounter many, many guests we had met at the Montreal Vegan Festival the weekend before, and happy they made the trip down to see us. We had such a good turn out that at 10:35am, after only a half an hour, we had completely sold out at Antidote Superalimentation!!
With promises to get more supplies there "tout-de-suite", we left only with big smiles as everything was gobbled up. Call me "super excited" for what's to come.
