Easy Vegan Holiday Appetizers

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

Holiday entertaining should be fun, not stressful! We recently challenged our cashew cheese loving Zenbassadors to create their best, easy and vegan appetizers. The catch? They had to use just FIVE ingredients or less. Here is a preview of what they came up.

1. Cranberry Cheese Wontons (IG: @plantbasedrelationship)

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Preheat 4-5 cups of vegetable oil in a shallow saucepan or pot for frying. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, oil and water. Mix until combined. Note: dough will be slightly dry, but still stick together when pressed. Sprinkle flour onto a flat surface and roll out the dough to 1/4" thick with a rolling pin. Use a cookie cutter to cut out circles. Fill the center of each circle with 1 tablespoon of cheese. Wrap the dough around the cheese, pinching to seal the edges. Fry for 5 minutes, or until brown.

2. Stuffed Mushrooms (IG: @wholesome.chapps)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg Fauxmagerie Zengarry Double Crème, at room temperature

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, chopped

  • 1/4 cup chives, roughly chopped

  • 30 mushrooms of your choice

  • Olive oil

  • Cayenne pepper, optional

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Clean and remove the stems of the mushrooms. Brush the tops with oil and arrange stem-side down onto a lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cheese, bread crumbs, cayenne, walnuts and chives. Mix together until smooth. Once the mushrooms have cooked and are cool to the touch, stuff them with filling and place back onto the baking sheet.

Bake for 5-8 additional minutes. Serve and enjoy!

3. Cheese-y Cucumber Masala Bites (IG: @datethyplate)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg Fauxmagerie Zengarry Aged Cumin, at room temperature

  • 1 large English cucumber, sliced

  • Smoked paprika

  • Chaat Masala or cumin powder

  • Fresh mint leaves, optional

Instructions:

Arrange the cucumber slices on a platter. Use a serrated knife to spread a layer of cheese overtop each. Top each with a sprinkle of smoked paprika, masala and fresh mint leaf. Serve immediately and enjoy!
